The last few days I was enjoying a much needed holiday. Apart from my job, the PayneReactor redesign and preparations for GamesCom 2016 take up much of my time. Nevertheless I found some spare time to travel and relax. Timing couldn’t be worse, as the Max Payne 15th Anniversary was celebrated during the same time. As a result, I was unable to share with you some of the highlights the community has shared with the world recently. So allow me to set things straight with this recap.

Max Payne Retribution teaser trailer.

After the wrapping of Max Payne Retribution it was anticipated a trailer would be released soon. On the day of the Max Payne 15th Anniversary, the team behind the fan film released a teaser trailer to give Max Payne fans a glimpse of what to expect. You can view the trailer below. Soon after the release of the teaser, the team also revealed the film’s poster. Bear in mind, if you were a backer of their Indiegogo campaign, this could be yours soon, as copies are already being printed.

Remedy is working on a story mode for Crossfire 2.

During the Crossfire Vision Summit in Shangai, Remedy and Smilegate announced a partnership in the development of the upcoming first person shooter title Crossfire 2. One of the two new upcoming Remedy projects has now been revealed. The Finnish developer was approached by Smilegate to specifically work on a story mode for the upcoming game. On the Remedy website the company states:

The whole team here at Remedy is incredibly excited to be a key partner in developing the future of the CROSSFIRE franchise. Smilegate specifically chose Remedy to bring our unique blend of storytelling, memorable characters and inventive gameplay to CROSSFIRE’s global audience.

We have been developing this project for a while and couldn’t be more excited to show you what we’re working on, so stay tuned for more details later down the line.

Crossfire was released in 2002 and is one of the most popular video games in Asia. The team up of Smilegate with Remedy is undoubtedly an attempt to bring the games to the western world. No further details are disclosed, so stay tuned for more news about Crossfire 2!

Max Payne 15th Anniversary celebration

During the weekend of the Max Payne 15th Anniversary, many fans of the game took part in our first giveaway round, sharing their fondest memory of the game by using the ‘#maxpayne15’ hashtag on Twitter. The winner and info about the second round will soon be announced. If you haven’t participated yet, now is the time to do so!

Partner Remedy fan site, The Sudden Stop, celebrated the anniversary by publishing a series of top-notch articles focused on the Max Payne games as well as Remedy. The first article is titled ”Retrospective: The Story of Max Payne – How the series impacted the world of video games.” And explores how one of our favorite video games came together and the impact it had on future games. In the second article, the fan site unravels the ways Remedy has payed homage to Max Payne in Alan Wake. Both articles are a joy to read and give good insights in the Remedy universe.
