Following the launch of Alan Wake 2, Remedy’s diverse talents are eager to showcase their contributions, ranging from concept art to character design, and from level design to lighting expertise. A collection of these works is now on display.
Crafting a video game involves many disciplines, and Remedy has compiled a collection of these works, now featured in an Art Blast on the popular platform ArtStation. This website is a dedicated space for artists to exhibit their creations and build online portfolios.
It’s remarkable to observe the striking resemblance between the concept art and the final in-game visuals, indicating that Remedy had a well-defined vision from the outset. When questioned about this, Juhani Jokinen (Principal Concept Artist) explained, “Level designer’s blockout was the starting point for the discussion and it’s a balancing act from there to cater for gameplay while crafting good images and believable locations. As for player pathing and shortcuts, we were opportunistic, if it helped the game we would do it.”

Each object within the game must be meticulously created, every pixel requires a human touch. Whether it’s the slice of pie on a plate at the Oh Deer Diner or the casually passed camera in Mr. Door’s talk show.
