Destiny is one of the games I’ve spent hours on end playing with some friends. And I’m sure I was not the only one, as the game was a massive hit for Bungie. It’s also the favorite game of Thomas Puha (Head of Communications at Remedy), but that’s more a sidenote. The multiplayer-rpg was one were players were required to grind hours on end to get specific gear and thus many hoped their character and gear could be transferred over to the inevitable sequel. As it turns out, Bungie recently revealed that the upcoming sequel will be a total reset for your Destiny characters. Confirming that weapons and gear will not transfer over to the new game. Your character’s appearance, however, will be retained.
“Sequels represent the start of a new adventure for every player, with new worlds to explore, new stories to tell, new powers to acquire, new loot to earn, and much more,” Bungie said on their blog today. “This led us to a decision that would enable us to serve both the game and the player’s best interests: Destiny 1 power, possessions, and Eververse-related items and currency will not carry forward. They will, however, remain accessible to you in Destiny 1.”
More information about Destiny 2 is said to release in the next few weeks. What do you think about these developments?
