During Sony’s State of Play presentation last night, we got our first look at the upcoming Alan Wake 2 DLC expansion: The Lake House. Set for release in October, this new chapter takes players to a mysterious location deep in the woods, where dark experiments and supernatural forces collide. The Lake House, an isolated research facility, seems to play a pivotal role in the Federal Bureau of Control’s operations in Bright Falls.
What to expect?
Following the lighter tone of the previous DLC, Night Springs, The Lake House shifts back to psychological horror and mysticism. This new expansion deepens the eerie atmosphere, creating a tense and foreboding experience that players have come to expect from Alan Wake 2. We expect Agent Esteves to play a pivotal part in the new narrative, along with new lore that provides more insight in what happend after the events of Control, possibly setting up Control 2.
The Lake House location
The Lake House, officially named Research Facility WA-03, is a key location in Alan Wake 2. Operated by the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) and overseen by Drs. Jules and Diana Marmont, it was established after the 2010 Altered World Event to study the supernatural phenomena at Cauldron Lake, a Place of Power tied to the Dark Place. Initially a secure research station, the facility is later attacked by the Dark Presence, leaving it overrun by the Taken. Attempts by FBC agents to reclaim the station result in heavy casualties, making The Lake House a haunting and dangerous setting.
During Saga Anderson’s investigation into the Cult of the Tree, players encounter the Lake House gate near Cauldron Lake, but access is denied, and further attempts reveal that the facility is in disarray following the attack. The location’s significance grows as players delve deeper into the psychological horror, with The Lake House central to unraveling the game’s mysteries.
How to Access It?
The Lake House will be available through the Alan Wake 2 Expansion Pass and is included in the game’s Deluxe Edition.
