While we were already suspecting Remedy to be working on a new entry in the Control franchise, today’s news was still a huge surprise! Remedy and 505 Games have officially announced they’ve signed a co-publishing and development agreement for a multiplayer spin-off game of the award-winning Control!
A press release issued by Remedy revealed the game (codenamed “Condor“) is a 4-payer co-op “Player vs. Environment” game. Like Control, Condor is built with Remedy’s proprietary Northlight engine. Condor is not to be confused with Vanguard. Vanguard is the codename assigned to a multiplayer project Remedy is developing using the Unreal engine. Yes, we know a lot is going on these days at Remedy – but wait! There’s even more.
Sneakily mentioned in a separate blog post, Mikael Kasurinen (Game Director of Control) reveals Remedy is making plans for a new bigger budget game set in the Control universe. Since Condor is a spin-off, Kasurinen’s comment hints at a continuation of the story as set in motion in Control. These are exciting times for Remedy fans. The Finnish developer is now working on 6(!) new projects simultaneously: Vanguard, Condor, two games as part of a deal with Epic, the new bigger budget Control-project, and the single-player campaign for CrossFire X. Are you keeping up?!
Needless to say, if you’re having trouble keeping up, you’re at the right source for all the latest about these projects!
