After the enormous success of Grand Theft Auto Online, it was a matter of when, not if, Rockstar would announce the Red Dead Redemption 2 counterpart. Yesterday the curtains were lifted. Red Dead Redemption 2’s multiplayer mode is called Red Dead Online.
GTA Online has generated massive amounts of revenue for Rockstar Games and is the main reason the game keeps selling well years after release. With superb support and regular free content updates, GTA Online manages to stay relevant and fun to this day. Judging from the announcement, Red Dead Online will evolve on GTA Online’s open world multiplayer, blending narrative with competitive gameplay even further.
Red Dead Online is planned for launch in November as public beta, free to anyone with a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 on either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Rockstar states it’s expecting some turbulence at launch considering the massive scale and size of the project. Not much else is revealed about the game mode at this point, but rumors have been circling around it will feature a Battle Royale mode. Whether or not this rumor is true, we are expecting Red Dead Online to at least even the success of GTA Online. If you are into that kind of thing, endless amounts of fun is coming your way.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018.
