During an earnings call on January 31, EA revealed some new bits of information about the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront sequel. While the new game doesn’t officially have a title yet, Battlefront 2 is slated for a Holiday 2017 release, as confirmed by CEO Andrew Wilson during the call. He said that the game will be “bigger” than the 2015 original. Allegedly, featuring more locations and heroes from “multiple Star Wars eras”.
It’s rather obvious the game will feature content inspired by Episode VIII, The Last Jedi, since that film will release around the same time. Battlefront already had content inspired by The Force Awakens and Rogue One. Also confirmed during the call was that the next installment in the Battlefront series will feature a Single-Player campaign. While this was already hinted at, the confirmation will make sure gamers can rest easy now highly requested feature will now be present.
It’s no secret EA has various games inspired by the Star Wars series in development. Personally I’m mostly interested in the game Amy Henning and her team at Visceral Games are developing, as it seems to be a story rich game. But I’ll never say no to another good Star Wars shooter either. Holiday 2017 can’t come fast enough.
