Control has been widely praised for its impressive visuals and level design. Apart from great graphics and lighting, the game also supports a spectacular amount of destructible objects. Everything combined creates a scene that’s dripping with atmosphere and creates a breathing, lived-in world.
Many of these aspects are defined early on during pre-production. During pre-production, the art teams at Remedy made a lot of artwork to try and visualize the art-direction the developers had to go in. Now that the game is out there, Remedy has allowed their artists to release much of the material created. It’s incredible! It’s quite a feat to have hand-drawn pictures match up so good with the eventual materials we can now experience.
