Last week, Remedy finally confirmed from which date on we’ll be able to snag a copy of Control. As the date of August 27th is fast approaching, we can expect more and more details to emerge in order to try and persuade gamers to acquire it.
Pre-orders & bonuses
Today, the ability to pre-order Control has gone live across various platforms. The exact contents of your edition might vary based on your platform of choice (some bonuses are tied to the PlayStation platform). However, all pre-orders will grant access to “Tactical Response Gear”, confirming Jesse will be able to change outfits (this was already hinted at during the studio tour video with Jesse).
We suspect outfits will impact impact your stats as well . The “Crafting Resources Pack” is another pre-order bonus available to all editions. This bonus will provide players with an easier time in upgrading weapons or equipment at the so called “Executive Hub”. Remedy has publicly stated Control will not feature microtransactions, so this bonus (or any other for that matter) can not be obtained without pre-ordering.
For a complete overview of all editions and attached bonusses, I’d like to re-direct you to the official Control website. 505 Games Community Manager Lucas has done an excellent job in providing us with a F.A.Q. on what to look out for when you’re considering to pre-order.
After the launch of the main game, Remedy is planning to release two expension packs. Called “The Foundation” and “AWE”. AWE we know is an abbreviation for “Altered World Events”. Both packs will include new locations, story content, missions and mods. Again, Lucas’s article explains to great detail how to make sure you’ll not be missing out on this content (and how to obtain it – these can be bought seperately). Worth mentioning, Remedy assures this was not cut content.
Control Gameplay Trailer
Next on our list is a new trailer. Along with a complete re-design of the Control website came a new trailer. The trailer focusses heavily on gameplay and should provide fans with a impression of what to expect in regards to action, atmosphere and powers. Watch it here:
