What a weekend it’s been! As anticipated after weeks of teasing from Remedy, Alan Wake 2’s first downloadable content, “Night Springs,” was unveiled during the Summer Game Fest livestream. Sam Lake joined Geoff Keighley on stage to announce that the DLC would be available on June 8, less than 24 hours later. Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’ve already had a chance to play it. We’ve been playing the whole weekend ourselves, and now we have some catching up to do!
The DLC features three episodes, each starring a familiar face: Rose Marigold, Jesse Faden, and Tim Breaker. These characters are featured in episodes of the fictional TV series ‘Night Springs,’ each representing Alan Wake’s attempts to write himself out of the dark place, thus taking place before the events of Alan Wake 2. Each episode boasts a unique aesthetic, special gimmicks, and plenty of easter eggs. Fans of Remedy’s games will find numerous references to other titles. While the overall experience is brief, you’ll likely replay these episodes multiple times to uncover all their secrets.
Currently, the DLC is available exclusively to owners of the Deluxe Edition of the game or those who have purchased the Deluxe Edition add-on. Watch the trailer below!
Also included in the latest game update: Photo Mode! This feature is available to all Alan Wake 2 owners, providing a suite of settings to tweak and adjust. Virtual photographers now have the tools to create shots with dramatically different moods and aesthetics from the in-game visuals. The community has already produced some incredible creations without Photo Mode, so we can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with now!
