We are barely two full weeks into the New Year and apparently there are no brakes on the Remedy news train! In late 2018 we learned Remedy had completed the majority of their development duties on the story mode of CrossFire HD. Many fans wondered when they would be able to see any of that work in action. Today is the day, as Remedy released a trailer focusing on their work just moments ago. The trailer was released in order to promote the upcoming beta of CrossFire in China.
The story mode is dubbed “Operation Frost” and is consisting of three episodes. Judging by the trailer the plot of the game seems to revolve around a soldier who can render himself invisible. Not many details are known yet but Remedy stated to reveal more at a later date. The trailer looks promising. Remedy’s influences are clearly noticeable, manifesting in things like particle effects, animations, camera techniques and graphics. To say we are intrigued is an understatement.
Chances are high that, like us, you’re unfamiliar with the CrossFire franchise. The game is immensely popular in China and hasn’t really taken off in the West. Purely speculation, but it seems likely with the inclusion of Remedy, Smilegate is now looking to enter the western market. Judging by Remedy’s website on the project, it seems we have to wait for more details about this topic too. While we wait, here’s that fancy trailer:
