Keeping track of all the nominations received and awards won by Control is a mind-bending occupation. Today the British Academy Games Awards nominations added a few more nominations to the already extensive list, and two different games each broke a long-standing record.
Both Control and Death Stranding were nominated in 11 categories each, the most ever in the award’s 16-year history. To put things in perspective, The Last of Us was nominated in ‘only’ eight categories. Other nominees include Disco Elysium, which had seven nominations, and Untitled Goose Game.
Awards are presented annually by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), and are also known as the BAFTA Game Awards. Other high-performing titles include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Life is Strange 2, and Outer Wilds, which each received five nominations. The awards will take place on April 2. Getting nominated in so many categories is an achievement on its own, but we’re rooting for Remedy to win as many as possible. Congratulations guys, well deserved!
BAFTA members also chose to nominate individual performers for the first time, with categories for leading role and supporting role. Martti Suosalo has been recognized for his work as the enigmatic Ahti the Janitor in Control.
