During X019 that occurred earlier tonight, the annual global celebration of all things Xbox, CrossFire X was featured. As you might remember, Remedy and Smilegate are both involved in the development of the tactical, military shooter. While Smilegate is responsible for the multiplayer part of the game (which will consist of various modes, among which a Battle Royale one), Remedy is taking care of the singleplayer campaign dubbed “Operation Frost”.
During the coverage, Xbox On’s Benny Central is visiting the Remedy studio in Finland. Central is being toured around the studio by Remedy’s Tuuka Taipalvesi, who’s the Executive Producer on the title. Unfortunately, the gameplay shown later in the coverage appears to be from the multiplayer part. Nevertheless, it’s great to see CrossFire finally shedding more light on what it’s package will all entail.
Remedy also shared some more details of CrossFireX’s plot over at their website:
In CrossfireX, you will be immersed in a sprawling global conflict between Global Risk and Black List, two of the world’s most formidable private military factions. Global Risk’s agents use advanced technology to fight for order and security, while Black List’s mercenaries fight to destabilize regimes in the name of freedom. This isn’t a story of good versus evil, it’s about a clash between two opposing factions which exist in shades of gray when it comes to morality.
