In the last few weeks, it has been awful busy here at PayneReactor. You might have noticed the news has been a bit slow in the last few weeks. There hasn’t been anything noteworthy to report on and the recent reviews (which were HUGE milestones for our site) have robbed me of more time than imagined. Either way, if you’ve read the title of this post – and I know you did – you know we’re about to drop some serious shit your way. Are you excited? Let’s go!
During today’s Xbox Games showcase, Remedy and Smilegate premiered a new trailer for CrossFire X‘s singleplayer campaign. As you might recall, Remedy has hired by Smilegate Entertainment to help them develop a narrative-driven campaign for their hugely popular multiplayer shooter. Players interested in playing Remedy’s campaign will need to buy the game’s Premium Battle Pass. The multiplayer part of the game is free to play.
“This is the first time we’re bringing our experience in world-class storytelling to a fast-paced, military first-person shooter. With the single-player campaign, we add depth and nuance to the world of Crossfire by showing different sides of Black List and Global Risk, who players have been playing as in the multiplayer for over a decade,” said Remedy’s community manager, Vida Starcevic, over at the Remedy website.
She continues: “Our aim is to tell a story together with Smilegate that’s recognizably Remedy, in the FPS genre, and to show the real chaos that happens behind enemy lines in a unique, cinematic experience”.
Along with the trailer, three major media outlets released their preview of the single-player campaign: Click here for The Verge‘s preview, here for the one from IGN and last but not least, here for Game Informer‘s.
