During Reboot Develop Blue 2019 (a big game developers conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia), Remedy CEO Tero Virtala announced that veteran Remedy composer Petri Alanko and Industry respected composer Martin Stig Andersen will work together to score Control.
Alanko has a rich history with Remedy, as he was contracted to help scoring Alan Wake not long after completion of Max Payne 2. He later returned to score Quantum Break. Petri is not only has amazing talent, he’s also an amazing guy to talk to. In fact, we had the unique opportunity to interview him on his works a few years ago. If you’d like to read that interview, click here.
Martin Stig Anderson is known for his contributions to the scores of Tomb Raider and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. On his portfolio website, Andersen has embedded an audio clip called “Venus” that he made for Wolfenstein 2. Listening to that clip, I can already imagine myself wandering around the dark corridors of The Oldest House. That audio clip is enormously atmospheric and seems a perfect fit for Control. Very eerie, haunting and dark! Both of these guys have proven to Masters of their craft, I can’t wait to see (or hear?) what they have been cooking!
Right after the announcement, Remedy published a short video starring the two gents – who seem to get along just fine – explaining their approach to scoring a videogame. Remedy also promised a longer video diary entry is coming soon.
