We already knew it was coming, raw gameplay of Alan Wake 2! During yesterday’s Summer Game Fest, Sam Lake took center stage to introduce the clip, as well as share tidbits of new information about the upcoming horror-survival game.
The raw gameplay clip, spanning approximately three minutes, transported viewers to a foreboding forest in Bright Falls where the game’s co-protagonist, Saga Anderson, followed up on a clue. The atmospheric setting was expertly crafted, the scenes were dimly lit and the moody weather made for extraordinary sound effects, enveloping the player with an eerie ambiance that left a lasting impression. It’s scary alright!
As Saga Anderson ventured deeper into the shadowy woods, the sense of impending danger loomed large. Every step she took seemed to be fraught with tension, amplifying the player’s unease. Remedy Entertainment showcased its mastery in creating a spine-chilling atmosphere that serves as the perfect backdrop for this supernatural, horror adventure.
The gameplay footage also unveiled more of the game’s refined mechanics. A Taken Cultist was vulnerable with a flashlight ad shot down using a pistol. Additionally, we see Saga interact with quest items, which makes her feel like a real detective looking for clues to piece what’s happening together.
Surprisingly, Sam Lake revealed during his introduction that the player can switch between Saga and Lake at various points in the story of their own choosing. It will be interesting to see how that will turn out. Perhaps a bit like what we’ve seen in GTA 5? Either way, I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough as more information will probably see the light in the next few weeks!
