This August, our beloved Finnish game studio celebrates its 30th anniversary. What an incredible journey it has been. Born in a basement in Espoo back in 1995, Remedy emerged from the Finnish demoscene armed with nothing but raw ambition and limitless creativity. Powered by coffee, or as Co-founder Markus Mäki put it best; “We found the secret ingredient: an ocean’s worth of coffee, a lot of curiosity, and even a larger dose of passion.”
As fans of the gritty chaos of Max Payne, the haunting mystery of Alan Wake, and the supernatural action of Control, we know Remedy’s storytelling is unlike any other. Their legacy is built on cinematic action, layered narratives, and unforgettable characters. For Remedy fans (and PayneReactor readers), the 30th anniversary is more than a milestone. It’s a salute to the enduring spirit behind our favorite noir bullet-time dives, narrative mysteries, and supernatural fights. Here’s to another 30 years of storytelling that hits harder than any bullet ever could!
This August and beyond, Remedy is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a series of special events, unique merchandise drops, and fan-focused surprises.
30th Anniversary artwork
To mark the occasion, Remedy teamed up with fan-favorite artist Valentina Paz to create a brand-new illustration. The artwork brings together characters from across the Remedy Connected Universe, all gathered under the glow of an Old Gods of Asgard concert. It’s a vibrant tribute that blends nostalgia with a burst of fresh creative energy. The artwork is featured at the top of this post.
