February 2022 is turning out to be a month of great significance in the Remedy community. In two days, the long-awaited first-person shooter CrossfireX will release! Developer Smilegate hired Remedy to develop a single-player campaign to accompany the military online shooter. CrossfireX will be Remedy’s first attempt at creating a first-person shooter game. The studio is widely known for its third-person action games, where the camera is positioned behind the protagonist. Thus, it will be interesting t see how Remedy will incorporate its strengths in this type of game; a complex, layered narrative that features unique, memorable characters.
But that’s not the only event happening this month. Fellow community site The Sudden Stop is celebrating its tenth anniversary! The website is celebrating the occasion with various giveaways and interviews with Remedy employees. A few months ago, the site was chosen by Remedy to help announce the coming of Alan Wake Remastered. A truly unique moment in gaming. It’s not common for fansites to get scoops like this, as traditional media have a much larger reach. Either way, the gesture was praised by fans and media alike. Remedy wanted to thank the website for its endless support and efforts to be a welcoming hub for the community. Be sure to head there now to not miss out on any of the celebrations!
Hopefully, Rachell Perkins (the site owner) will be around for the next ten years! I always look up to her and she’s a great source of inspiration, as well as a great friend! Congratulations.
