Remedy Entertainment just dropped a brand new gameplay trailer at the PlayStation State of Play, giving us a new glimpse at CONTROL Resonant. This highly anticipated sequel to 2019’s CONTROL trades the claustrophobic halls of the Oldest House for the reality-shredding streets of Manhattan.
Running on a PlayStation 5 Pro, the trailer introduces us to our new protagonist, Dylan Faden. While the world is larger and more expansive than the first game, Remedy clarified that this isn’t a traditional open-world title. Instead, players will explore massive, distinct zones (like the West Incursion Zone) packed with side activities and secrets hidden within a landscape that literally folds in on itself.
Key Highlights:
- The Aberrant: Dylan’s primary weapon is a shapeshifting melee tool that can transform into multiple forms (like blades or hammers) to adapt to any threat.
- Gravity Anomalies: Expect mind-bending traversal. Dylan can navigate spaces where physics have broken, shifting his orientation to walk on walls or through floating debris.
- Hunting Resonants: Bosses are no longer just roadblocks; they are the key to progression. Defeating these “Resonants”, corrupted remnants of powerful individuals, is how Dylan unlocks brand-new supernatural abilities.
- New Allies: We met Zoe De Vera, an FBC Field Agent and Dylan’s handler. Her role is to guide Dylan as he fights to maintain his humanity in a world that is actively falling apart.
