Last night, Control managed to win the ‘Best Art Direction’ award at The Game Awards 2019. Ikumi Nakamura had the honors of announcing the winner in this category. Remedy’s Thomas Puha (Communications Director) and Mikael Kasurinen (Game Director) rushed to stage in order to collect the – apparently pretty heavy! – TGA Award.
While Control was nominated in a staggering eight categories in total, ‘Best Art Direction’ was the only category Control managed to win in. That also means the Game of the year award slipped through its fingers, as that award was granted to From Software for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Leading up to the announcement of ‘Game of the Year’ was a live performance by The Game Awards Orchestra. Iconic themes from the nominated games were performed including “Sankarin Tango” as featured in Control. Click here if you wish to see that performance!
