It’s been a month since FBC: Firebreak launched, and while the game has already seen four patches aimed at quality-of-life improvements, Remedy Entertainment is preparing a much larger update set to land in late September. The studio acknowledges that despite early efforts, more significant changes are needed to strengthen the player experience and grow the community.
With that in mind, development is now shifting focus toward the game’s first Major Update. One key priority is improving the onboarding experience, as data shows many new players drop off within the first hour. Remedy is responding with a reworked tutorial, clearer narrative framing, and smarter in-game guidance to help players better understand the world and their role in it from the start.
Combat is also getting attention. The team plans to drop generic upgrades in favor of a new Mod system that allows players to customize their weapons in more meaningful ways. Three new heavy weapons are being added, and equipment will feel powerful right out of the gate.
Job structure is being overhauled through the introduction of the Crisis Board, which replaces the current system with curated, dynamic missions that offer greater variety and unpredictability. This update will also refine matchmaking, ensuring a smoother experience across player segments.
Replayability is another focus. The upcoming update will introduce more randomized elements (from objectives to item placements) making each run feel less predictable. A brand-new Job is also on the way, featuring three new zones, additional enemies, and a mysterious new tool known internally as “the sushi train.”
While this September update will bring major changes, it’s only the beginning. Remedy is already planning future updates, with timing and content to be shaped by ongoing player feedback. For now, the team is heads-down, refining Firebreak into an experience that will keep the fans hooked.
