This one came as a surprise: Remedy officially announced Condor as “FBC: Firebreak”, a three-player co-operative first-person shooter in the Control universe, during the Xbox Partner Preview Stream. Although we knew the game was in development and had heard its name before, yesterday’s announcement came as a complete surprise!
The reveal offered a glimpse into the gameplay, where players take on the role of brave Federal Bureau of Control agents. They’ll confront paranormal forces in the unsettling, ever-changing corridors of The Oldest House. While it borrows elements from other cooperative shooters, Remedy’s signature style shines through in the enemies, environments, and weapons. Check out the game’s trailer to get a glimpse of its gameplay:
FBC: Firebreak takes place after the events of Control. Players are not required to have played that game in order to understand what’s going on. To further emphasise the game is a stand-alone experience, it adapted a lighter, more colorful tone. To commemorate the announcement, we’ve adapted most of these colors into the layout of our website.
After decades of narrative driven experiences. FBC”Frebreak will be Remedy’s first multiplayer game ever. So you can imagine yesterday’s reveal to be a huge milestone for the developer. However, that doesn’t mean FBC: Firebreak will not feature a compelling story:
“For the people who are keeping up with the single-player journey, we wanted to make sure that FBC: Firebreak was a legitimate and impactful part of that history and lore. The narrative style you’ve seen in our previous games just wasn’t ever going to work here, for this kind of game. When you think about these differences in FBC: Firebreak’s gameplay – world over story, multiplayer over single-player, voice-chatting with your teammates, action over exploration and so on – you can probably see why it was important that we made FBC: Firebreak a stand-alone experience.” – Game Director Mike Kayatta said to Xbox Wire.
The game is set to be released in 2025, and the excitement is building! Visit its website for more screenshots and to add it to your wishlist.
